Metrocon

I was absolutely blown away by the outcome of this show. This was my first ever artist alley, and I made $2,700 over the weekend. My placement was at M7. The customers were a bit patchy a times, but the customers continued to come in as the days went by. The staff was extremely kind, I went to thank the head of the staff personally. I think if you are well prepared for this convention and have products people want to buy, you will do just fine. Highly recommend.

I attended in 2017 and did not break even. I flew in because I had family to stay with and a free ride to the con hall but just didn't get sales. Beautiful venue, staff was friendly, but the table cost is high and attendees were there just.... not buying and not very friendly. I heard this year Metro was shortly after another con in the exact same hall, which likely impacted sales. Still- based on my experience it is absolutely not worth flying in.

I've been to this con as an attendant for years, it's very cozy aka kind of small. Attendance is around 12K. The staff are very sweet and helpful. I've never heard a complaint from the artist alley about the staff. The convention center is on the water and very pretty for pictures. The fire show is rad.
I've sold at metrocon twice and it's the only con i've sold at. I live within driving distance to it. I've made around $1800 at this con both years. This year (2017) other artists were telling me it was very slow/not good in sales. I don't have experience selling at any other con so i'm taking their word for it. It's not the best profit if you're coming from out of state.

Unless you live in Tampa (not Florida- I mean in the city of Tampa) not worth it. Higher than average broke, teenage attendance numbers with low buying interest overall. Sitting at the 2017 show as I type this and, with the cost of travel from out of state, won't break even.
