PDXAGE

Sleepy Con 2.0 (see my GameStorm review). This show is run by some of the people who attend the Gamestorm convention in Portland. I was actually approached to do this show at that one. There was a deal where if you donated some merchandise to their charity auction, you'd get a discount on the table. I set up Friday and stayed through most of Saturday, but had to leave early that evening because I need to start getting ready for next week's show and it was just too slow to stay. I did stay to play some games though, including an intense game of giant Jenga. Even though I didn't make much money at this show, it still gets a positive review because the chill neighborhood vibes it had, reminiscent of Gamestorm. A lot of the same people came to this show too, so it was cool seeing some familiar faces again. And the layout was fantastic! Reminded me of something you'd see at a larger card tournament type setting (ie Gen con, etc) where there were tables all set around the conference room with artists and vendors along the outside. I really liked this layout, especially since I was put right in front of the projector screen at the front of the room. Cool that artists that donated goods for the auction got listed in the programs as sponsors. We always like seeing our name in print. This convention has a lot of room to grow, and since they've only done a couple years now, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it. It looks good. Maybe work on marketing it a little bit better next year. Also, if you guys can bring in some tvs, I'll bring in some consoles and games! Maybe some tournaments? Oh! And how about a costume contest and maybe a couple of workshops? Oh, and trashcans at the tables, please! You could do so much with this show! Good luck! See you next year maybe! 🙂
