Penguicon

The problem with Penguicon is that it is almost the same exact people at every single one. They don't advertise because they're not terribly open to huge amounts of new people. One of the other problems I've had with this con is that the staff is different every single year. All of them, even the con chair.

My experience with this con is that it's boring. Honestly, if you're not there to drink and hang out, you're going to want to bring something to do. With the AA being in the hallway, you have to setup and tear down each day. The vendor hall is equally as boring. It has great potential if they wanted to actually advertise....

I do not recommend this con. I just can't in good conscience. So, do this con at your own risk.

Penguicon staff have treated me VERY very well and with great respect. That being said, this is the most BORING convention I've AA'd at; they also have a 24 hour AA which can be exhausting batting the drunks off your table.

The vibe I seem to always get is that it's a huge party-con that people go to for mainly hookups. It's supposed to be mainly a maker-convention so it can be a really odd crowd when people go to buy in AA as they expect more robotics and get more crafts/artwork. The traffic in AA feels exceptionally slow, but somehow both years I've gone I've made decent profit.

Overall it's not a bad convention to try out since it's fairly low-priced. There are a lot of internal issues going on with the staff - luckily none have leaked too badly into the AA set up. I seriously considered taking this one off my list though...it's just so boring to me - I think I'd enjoy it more as an attendee.
