Don't Vend Here
OK. I'm back. Game On was even worse this year than in 2024. There were empty tables and some people were being asked to pay $800 to fill them while others were being given them for free. There was a lot of issues with layout. They put cosplayers next to artists without staff to handle crowd control during busy times. Once again, most of the people I spoke to did not make their table fee back. This con used to be really well curated but it feels like a money grab now. I'm not going back. Tucson is waaaay better than this and it's around the same size con.

Vendor/Artist issues aside, there were once again issues with panels this year AND the cosplay contest had all of the volunteers abandon their den parent posts (most likely due to the lead person being mean from what I've heard). I am also pretty sure I saw someone at the contest win who won in the same costume at another local con which makes me think whoever is running this doesn't perform due diligence. I dunno, it just seems really messy. There was also A LOT of rumors that they didn't bring a favorite cosplay guest in because some friend of a friend wanted to get in good with the new MC.

I'm just over the drama of this con. Its super inconsistent which is sad as the owner seems super nice but his crew just isn't very good.

Gone Down Hill
This event used to be good for AA and Vendors. This year they swapped buildings and increased the cost of tables for everyone. They promised a new layout and closer access to the front but all of us were in the very back beyond the celebrities, arcades and a weird wrestling arena. The staff this year was ok. I heard a lot of upset from cosplay friends about their contest organization. I witnessed some issues firsthand like the Maids booing the con and whoever the mc was narrating over the audio. I also heard about the line on Friday.

There was also a lot of confusion during load in and out. Some people were told no wagons or carts while others were allowed them. The space allocation was also rough. It just felt really rushed. Most didn't make their tables back so there's a lot chatter about not going back. I don't know, it was just a bit of a mess and the con itself doesn't seem to want to own up to their mistakes. It's not the only con in AZ having issues right now. Seems there are a bunch of owners making bad decisions that hurt us locals and artists.

Pretty Good for a Newer Con
We did fairly well at this convention. The attendance was good, the only problem was layout? Everything is thrown into one place, (artist alley, guests, cosplayers, etc) so the hall tends to be a bit loud. But otherwise attendance was strong!
